Transcript:

Jeff Harrison [00:01]:  All right, we’ll come back and I’m Jeff Harrison.

Andrew McCauley[00:04]: And I’m Andrew McCauley

Jeff Harrison [00:05]: With reservations. Now, Andrew, we’ve been talking a lot about automation, ai, that kind of stuff. So you had a great idea and said, hey, let’s take things that are happening, not futuristic, but happening today in restaurants that are using augmented reality versus automation. Right? So, and what that really means, let’s make it real simple because I’m just a kid from us. Texas robots.

Andrew McCauley[00:30]: Robots, the people that they are here and they everywhere.

Jeff Harrison [00:33]: That’s it. So what are we going to talk about? What we’re going to do is we’re going to pick a business. We’ve picked selected businesses. We’re going to talk about each day we take one and say, hey, let’s break it down. Is it a good idea? Is that a bad idea? Can it help the business?

Andrew McCauley[00:54]: Flippy, Flippy is the name of the robot that’s for CaliBurger in Pasadena, in California. Now they have got this robot that, guess what

Jeff Harrison [00:57]: A little old lady in Pasadena.

Andrew McCauley[00:58]: It flips, it flips the burgers. Now there are some interesting things about this. And you read this as well, the manager there said, you know what, we got sick of training people all the time. We’re sick of a downtime we’re sick of the management being taken away for training purposes. Let’s get in flippy. Well, let’s get into do the burgers, him or her or it. To do the burgers so that it’s consistent. You know, flippy has thermal imaging eyes, you can tell the temperature of the burgers, internal temperature. It’s consistent. It’s always doing the job. Never calls in sick, never ask for a day off. And I keeps working all the way through. So that’s Caliburger.

Jeff Harrison [01:37]: Well, you know, the other thing I liked about that as the fact that not only once it sets on a task and knows how to do it, but it’s also integrated with it learns new tasks. Was an example in the, in the video at caliburger.com. You can see that and especially it’s just flipping the Burgers, but if you wanted to learn new tasks, it has those capabilities.

Andrew McCauley[01:57]: It does the machine learn? So it knows that this new burger is coming and you can learn what to do. It’s not just a machine, it’s a thinking machine.

Jeff Harrison [02:08]: Yeah, it’s really the future. So think about, hey, what if you had a robot doing something that’s redundant now before you say, oh, that’ll never happen in the food industry. It happened in the automobile industry. You know, there are so many tasks are being done robotically that it actually didn’t replace a lot of workers. It just made.

It could be because at the same time it’s still a machine. It has to be looked over and double check. So it actually just made it more efficient. I think in the same article they talked about. It’s not replacing people, although it is, it probably is reducing some of the overhead and the cost or is it, but it’s just the way of the future.

Andrew McCauley[02:48]: But people are coming to see flippy in action. It’s a destination now. So, Hey, if you’ve never seen any ai smart machines and the hospitality industry, let us know. Let us give us the link to the place and we’ll go and check it out. Yeah, like that. That’s really it for today. Simple as that. You’ll be back tomorrow with some more

Jeff Harrison [03:01]: we’re going to be robotic and we’ll see you next time

Andrew McCauley[03:02]: Goodbye. I’m Andrew

Jeff Harrison [03:03]: On reservations.
